This Saturday UWOTCWC, will be hosting their 13th annual friends of Friends Fighting Hunger event.

This Saturday the United Way of Otter Tail and Wadena Counties, will be hosting their 13th annual friends of Friends Fighting Hunger event.

It’ll be a little different this year, it’ll be a virtual event hosted at Aasnessauctioneers.com. Proceeds from the event will support participating children’s weekend feeding backpack programs and food shelves in Otter Tail County and in the city of Wadena.

Executive director of the United Way of Otter Tail of Wadena Counties Mary Phillipe, talks about the children’s feeding backpack program that has over 600 area children enrolled.

“We have volunteers that fill bags of food, it averages about $4 a bag for children to help them get by for the entire weekend and not just for one day. For breakfast lunch and dinner for the entire weekend, and we can do that on $4.”

The silent auction items are available to be bid on now and a live auction event will begin at 5 Saturday evening.
