(St. Paul, MN) — State Health Commissioner Jan Malcom is warning that “we’re definitely not out of the woods yet with this pandemic.”
Malcolm says the trend in COVID cases in Minnesota has been going up without interruption for 25 days, with the case-positive rate jumping a whole percentage point in one week. And Malcolm says the percentage of COVID cases requiring hospitalization is also trending up.
She notes that the new variants are easier to transmit and have potentially led to more severe disease in other countries. The average age for COVID hospital cases has dropped, as has the average age of deaths from COVID.
