The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is extending an air quality alert until 3 p-m Tuesday for the entire state, what officials term an “unprecedented” five- to six-day period.
The M-P-C-A’s Nick Witcraft says they expect a wide swath of up to “very unhealthy” air stretching from Lake of the Woods all the way south to the Twin Cities. He says the worst of it will be tonight (Saturday) and Sunday, stretching into early Monday.
Witcraft says of most concern will be areas around Leech Lake, Red Lake, Brainerd, Saint Cloud and touching the Twin Cities metro, and up the I-35 corridor and west to International Falls.
Duluth and the North Shore will be on the edge of the “unhealthy” range.
