Watermelon Day Returns to Vining This Weekend

It’s about to be the third Saturday in August, which means Watermelon Day in Vining is happening this weekend. This local event, which will take place for the 49^th time, is going to be packed with things to do and see.

Saturday will begin with an arts and crafts fair from 9a-4p, the Run for the Melon races starting at 8a (registration and packet pick up from 6:30a-8a), Bingo beginning at noon, a bean bag tournament at 1p, car show from 2p-6p and of course, free watermelon will be served starting at 11a (available until they run out).

Later in the day, the public is invited to enjoy the parade, which kicks off at 7pm. There will also be a street dance and raffle drawings at 9p, along with a movie in the park at 9:15p.

Parking is free for this event.
