Rural Erhard man dies after being stung multiple times

At approximately 2:03 Monday afternoon, the Otter Tail County Dispatch received a report a medical emergency at an address northeast of Erhard.

It was reported that while working in his yard, a 69 year-old male had been stung multiple times by bees or hornets. (Believed to be five or six stings)

At the time of the call, the male was said to be having difficulty breathing, and it was believed that he was experiencing anaphylactic shock.

Ringdahl Ambulance responded from their Pelican Rapids station, and was joined by several Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Deputies at the scene. They began treatment of the victim who on arrival was now unresponsive.  The lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the victim passed away at the scene.

The name of the man has not been released yet.

The incident remains under investigation.
