(Fergus Falls, Minn.) – Greater Fergus Falls (GFF) is pleased to announce that cottage bakery, The Sugared Pearl, specializing in custom baked goods, is expanding into a full-time venture. The expansion includes scheduled pop-ups around Fergus Falls with Paint Your Own Cookie kits, dunkers, macarons, cake push-ups, and decorated cookies! Owner-operator, and head baker Holly Petersen is set to host her first pop-up at 123 E. Lincoln Ave (Sugarbomb) on Friday, September 24th from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.
Petersen began decorating cakes as a hobby in 2016, hoping someday to establish a business. Starting small, she obtained her license to operate a home bakery under Minnesota’s Cottage Food Law. This allows food entrepreneurs to operate small food businesses and produce a variety of food products that are low risk from a food safety standpoint. Recently, Petersen resigned as a Registered Nurse (RN) to spend more time with her five children and focus energy on growing her business. She hopes to offer monthly pop-up events and is working on a business model that will include personalized baking classes.
