The Minnesota State Patrol is welcoming 34 new state troopers.
There was a graduation ceremony Friday at the U of M for the cadets who completed the 63rd Training Academy. The class is part of a State Patrol program designed to recruit people with no law enforcement experience.
There are 12 military veterans, two pilots, three with family in the State Patrol and 12 with diverse backgrounds. Five are women.
Officials say Kristian Jensen is the tallest trooper in history at seven-foot-one, and Patrick Fitzgibbons holds a Guinness World Record for barefoot waterskiing.
