Christmas is right around the corner and lots of people in the area are getting their decorations ready for the season, which means getting new and tossing away old lights.
String lights are very popular, especially during this time of the year.
Cedar Walters Public Information and Education Officer with Otter Tail County Solid Waste, said, “String lights are just one of those weird things where they get tangled in equipment. In our industry they’re called a tangler.”
Walters went on to explain, “We really don’t want them in the recycling or the trash because they got wrapped around equipment and cause problems.” She added, “We just ask that you drop them off at any Otter Tail County Transfer Station or Recycling Center and we collect them all and they are dealt with separately.”
