By Dave Bishop Nov 5, 2021 | 11:47 AM

The Otter Tail County jail inmate that was found unresponsive in her cell shortly after midnight Wednesday, has been identified as Lavuya Jade Baker, 28 years old, from Wadena.  Responding officers, along with correctional staff and EMS, attempted life saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

Baker’s body was taken to Lake Region Hospital for autopsy, and the results of the autopsy are still pending further lab results.

Baker was the sole occupant of the cell at the time of the incident.  The cell block in which she was housed contained a total of four single inmate cells.  She was discovered by correctional staff during a routine wellness check.

The Fergus Falls Police Department began conducting an investigation into the death immediately following the incident.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has also been notified.
