UPDATE: “Due to staffing issues, the new Scooter’s location on West Lincoln Avenue in Fergus Falls will not be opening as planned on Monday, December 13th. Tentative plans are to open Monday, December 20th.”
Merv and LaDonna Van Engen bought a place on Otter Tail Lake about five years ago. They love the area. Fast-forward to the present and the two are bringing a new business to Fergus Falls. Scooter’s Coffee is scheduled to open on December 13th.
The couple says that it’s a great company and product and they are excited to be here. Mr. Van Engen explained, “We want to try and help out as much as we can in the community. We want to be involved in the community, but we also want to be involved in young people’s lives, so we just think that this is going to be a really exciting opportunity, here in Fergus Falls.
Scooter’s Coffee will offer all kinds of coffee including, medium and dark roast, as well as, a flavor of the day brewed coffee. It’s not just coffee that will be served though. Mrs. Van Engen says that people can enjoy a variety of drinks and food (including healthy options). Smoothies, breakfast sandwiches and more are also on the menu. She said, “We have a little bit of everything for anyone.” The menu changes according to the season too. Mrs. Van Engen mentioned that the Peppermint Mocha drink is one of her favorites right now.
The plan is to be open Monday through Friday from 5:30a-8:30p as well as Saturday and Sunday from 6a-8:30p.
They are currently looking for baristas and the Van Engen’s are encouraging people in the community to apply.
Scooter’s Coffee is located at 425 W Lincoln Ave in Fergus Falls.
Locations in Detroit Lakes and Breckenridge will be opening in the future too.
