(Fergus Falls, Minn) – Greater Fergus Falls (GFF) is privileged to announce that The Fabled Farmer plans to reopen under new ownership January 4th, 2022. The eatery, located at 412 W. Lincoln Ave, will operate under the same name, and offer a similar menu including local favorites such as power bowls and fresh juices. Employee-turned-owner Rebecca Lacheur loved the concept and atmosphere and wanted to ensure this business continued to serve the community.
After previous owner Mary Robertson made the difficult decision to close her doors, Lacheur, who had worked at the eatery for 3 years initiated the discussion and began working on the business transfer that has been months in the making. “I reached out to GFF when I began considering selling my business at The Fabled Farmer and was immediately connected to a professional consultant who had experience and expertise in all the things I needed to do. Having someone to confirm some of things I already knew but needed tweaking and who also understood the entire process and could make sure nothing was overlooked, helped me make a successful transition out of my business,” Robertson continued, “GFF provided knowledge, understanding, and helpful accountability to ensure the whole process moved forward.”
Lacheur said, “Having never opened my own business before, I wasn’t sure where to start. Mary suggested I reach out to GFF. They were immediately able to point me in the right direction, advising me what paperwork I would need to start with and setting me up with my own personal consultant,” she continued, “In addition to offering practical business advice, my consultant helped me formulate financial projections that were invaluable in helping me secure necessary funding.”
Both Robertson and Lacheur worked through GFF”s Entrepreneur Initiative to receive free and confidential one-on-one coaching to assist with the business transfer. Separate consultants worked with each to ensure the buyer and seller were prepared. If you’re interested in starting, expanding or selling/transferring a business, GFF provides technical assistance and resources to assist from start to finish. GFF’s CEO NeTia Bauman said, “With more of our locally-owned small business owners preparing for retirement, it’s more important than ever to begin Succession Planning. It’s a critical step to ensuring a proactive growth and financial plan for transferring or selling your business. We’re pleased to have been able to support both Mary and Rebecca through this process and look forward to the return of this local staple.”
