The Freedom Resource Center in Fergus Falls is looking forward to Giving Hearts Day on Thursday, February 10th.
Marie Fouquette, with the Freedom Resource Center, said, “We work with individuals with disabilities from birth to end of life, who self-disclose to us that they have a disability. This can be anything from physical disability to mental health condition.” She added, “We have a temporary ramp program and that’s what we’re focusing on this Giving Hearts Day.”
Fouquette explained, “We provide free temporary ramps for individuals for up to 90 days if that is something that is a barrier to keeping them from coming home.” This can be for someone who has a permanent disability that needs assistance while they are working to get funding sources or money necessary to build a permanent ramp. It can also be for someone who has a temporary disability, like a broken hip, and needs a ramp while they recover.
The Freedom Resource Center helped out a lot of people with ramps in 2021. Fouquette said, “We serve 19 communities in our service area and we put up 42 ramps…I guess that’s a total of 687 feet.”
Donations can be made on and/or prior to Giving Hearts Day at givingheartsday.org. Money can be given specifically to the Freedom Resource Center by searching for the organization on the website.
The Freedom Resource Center will be having an open house from 1p-3p on Giving Hearts Day. There will be an opportunity to donate directly to them in person during this time or get assistance in donating online.
