Fergus Falls Resident Taken into Custody After Making Threats

On June 10^th the Fergus Falls Police Department received a complaint from a person living out of state that a Fergus Falls resident was making threats in an online forum involving an alternative reality game. The person could only provide limited information regarding the suspect. The Fergus Falls Police Department received additional calls from the original complainant and other players in the game around 11:30 pm providing more information about the suspect and indicating that the threats were escalating, becoming more specific in nature in wanting to kill them, and now making broad statements about a potential mass shooting or incident that the suspect would live stream.

The Fergus Falls Police Department was able to identify the suspect, as Daniel Scott Jennings, and verify his address. Surveillance was conducted on the home until a search warrant could be obtained and was served on the morning of June 11th. During the search of the residence several guns, ammunition, and computer components were seized. Also, during the search, investigators found several files containing names of individuals, their addresses, and pictures of the individuals whom Jennings had indicated he wished to do harm. All of these individuals on his list resided in other states; none were local residents. Authorities continue to work on informing the individuals of our discovery and working with authorities in those jurisdictions.

Jennings had made statements about committing some type of horrific act on the following day and live streaming the incident. There was no mention of a specific site, event or location during the online threat.

Jennings was taken into custody following the search warrant for Terroristic Threats and being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. The investigation is still ongoing.
