DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – A Flowering rush chemical treatment will occur on Lakes Area lakes Tuesday.
Flowering rush is a reed-like wetland plant with pink flowers. The plant grows densely along shore land areas making it difficult to access open water, as well as provides unsuitable shelter, food, and nesting habitat for native animals.
Lakes Detroit, Curfman, Sallie and Melissa will be treated with a chemical application Tuesday. Treatment signs will be posted in treatment areas.
It is recommended that irrigation using lake water in treated areas cease for five days after treatment.
