Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – New to We Fest this year is the first-ever Dance Competition, where participants can win VIP tickets to We Fest 2023.
Couples and individual dancers will be brought up on stage to dance to a 90-second music clip for three guest judges.
Daily preliminary winners could win a Country Club Pass for the rest of the weekend, or a $50 gift certificate to JQ Clothing. First place during Saturday’s finals will win two Green VIP tickets to WeFest 2023, second place will win two reserved seats to next year’s festival, and third place will win two pit passes and two GA tickets.
The dance competition will be held on the Barn Stage at 5:30 p.m. each day of We Fest. Three finalists will be selected from each night of We Fest to perform for the prizes after Tanya Tucker performs on the main stage on Saturday. The cost is $20 per contestant.
There are free 45-minute dance lessons at 2:30 and 4:00 at the barn stage, led by Frazee’s Northern Lights Dance Academy (NLDA) instructors, for anybody interested.
Tonight’s guest judges include Kiala Rae Velde of NLDA, Zeke Fuhrman from the Wave 104-1 Morning Carpool, and Hitchville lead singer Heidi Owens. Friday’s judges will be Ta Fett of Next Level Dance, Zeke Fuhrman, and Friday performer Ray Fulcher. Saturday’s judges will be NLDA’s Kendal Ware, Matt Wood of the Wild Country 99 in St. Cloud, and Ella Langley.
Cowboy Troy, Frazee native Greta Nelson, and WDAY’s Lisa Budeau will judge the finals on Saturday night.
Contestants can register on the We Fest app or in person and must be at the Barn Stage prior to 5 pm.
