Since early August, News Talk 1250 KBRF, Real Rock Z103, Channel 977, and KJ Country 96.5 have been celebrating towns in West Central Minnesota with the Hometown Challenge.
When the nomination period ended, there were sixteen towns for people to vote for in this challenge, through an official bracket. They were Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes, Wahpeton, Elbow Lake, Battle Lake, Breckenridge, Erhard, Henning, Rothsay, Ottertail, Ashby, Pelican Rapids, Elizabeth, Underwood, Vergas and Perham.
Then after several weeks and several thousand votes, the Hometown Challenge with Olson Oil came down to a battle of Highway 210, between Battle Lake and Underwood.
After beating top seeded Fergus Falls in the semi-finals, Battler fans were not to be denied, as Battle Lake beat Underwood by a nearly a 2 to 1 margin to become this year’s champion.
Congratulations to Battle Lake and to all of our $100 Service Foods certificate winners.
The Hometown Challenge powered by Olson Oil and co-sponsored by The Fergus Falls Monument Company, The Foxhole Bar and Grill and the Elizabeth Liquor Store. And thanks to Service Food Market providing this year’s prizes.
