Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Has Ribbon Cutting and Open House for New Lower School

Last week Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, in Fergus Falls, hosted an open house and ribbon cutting for their new lower school on East Channing.

Lower School Principle, Joyce Aamot, said that parents and family are excited; “There’s a real sense of excitement, because we have now 3-year-olds, all the way through 12th graders. So it’s just a wonderful opportunity to take an educational system and go all the way. You get your kids started and they can just go all the way through graduation, so the parents are excited. We have so many volunteers, we have so many people that are just want their children here because of the whole Continuum, and it’s great”

Unlike the High School there’s no international students, but Aamot said they’re seeing parents move from all over the US. “We actually have families that are moving back from California, Washington, out east, so they’re coming back. We do not have foreign exchange students here in the lower school, but we do have families that are coming from around the country, which makes it exciting as well. I think there’s a lot of reasons people want to come back to Minnesota, and come back to Fergus Falls.”

Parents, students, faculty and board members gathered in front of the school as members of the Hillcrest community spoke of all the hard work that made the lower school a reality.

Then Hillcrest President, Brad Hoganson, called up the students and families for the official cutting of the ribbon.

Located at 805 East Channing, the lower school hosts students from pre-school through 5th grade.
