Fargo-Moorhead Forum Spotlights Issues Over Minnesota Marijuana Laws

(Moorhead, MN) — A recent forum in Fargo-Moorhead about new and proposed marijuana laws in Minnesota and North Dakota spotlighted what many say are problems with current regulations in the North Star State.

Rebecca Kanninen head of a Saint Paul-based lobbying and advocacy firm, says not all legislators paid attention to details of the bill, resulting in “weak regulatory guidelines.”

Kanninen adds that the way the edibles law is structured, you can sell anything “as long as it doesn’t look like candy” and edibles can be sold practically anywhere, including church parking lots.

Some Minnesota lawmakers want to revisit the issue in the upcoming session, but others make no bones that allowing sale of T-H-C edibles is a necessary first step toward legalizing recreational marijuana.

Republicans have staunchly opposed it.
