OTC Sheriff’s Office Responds to Gun Shots in Pelican Rapids

Just before 3 Saturday morning, Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of five to six gunshots being heard in an apartment building in Pelican Rapids.

When deputies arrived on scene, a bullet hole was located and the odor of burnt gun powder was detected.

38-year-old Jordan Pierce interacted with law enforcement while in possession of a rifle before returning to his apartment.

Residents of the apartment building were evacuated and provided with shelter at the Pelican Rapids High School.

Pierce eventually surrendered to law enforcement and was placed under arrest for Felony Reckless Discharge of a Firearm within a Municipality, carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, felony threats of violence, and 1st degree criminal damage to property.

There were no injuries during the incident.

The otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pelican Rapids Police, Pelican Rapids Fire, Otter Tail County SWAT, Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office, and Ringdahl Ambulance Service.
