Fergus Falls Otters Boys and Girls Track Teams Kick Off Indoor Season at Concordia College

On March 24, the Fergus Falls Otters boys and girls track teams started their spring season with an indoor meet at Concordia College in Moorhead.

Both teams were eager to showcase their talents and shake off the winter rust.

Local Archery Teams Wrap Up Season with Regional Tournaments

Despite challenging weather conditions, Fergus Falls Area Home School and Fergus Falls Otters archery teams persevered and completed their seasons with competitions in Alexandria, Wahpeton, and Audubon Regional Tournaments.

In a doubleheader on March 25, the M State Spartans baseball team managed to secure a 9-6 victory in the first of two seven-inning games, but suffered a 7-3 loss in the second game.

Little Eight Conference Announces Basketball Season Awards

The Little Eight Conference recently revealed its end-of-season awards for both boys and girls basketball.

Border West’s Clint Determan and Dylan Bainbridge shared the title of co-MVPs for the boys, while their head coach Jordan Roos was honored as both the coach of the year and the Section 6A coach of the year.

Former Underwood Rockets Coach to Enter Hall of Fame

In recognition of his contributions to the sport, former Underwood Rockets football coach Chuck Ross will be inducted into the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Minnesota St. Cloud State Mens Hockey advance in NCAA tournament.

The top-ranked U of M Men’s Hockey team skated past Canisius 9-2 in the NCAA West Regional opener in Fargo.

The Golden Gophers will play St. Cloud Saturday night for a trip to the Frozen Four in Tampa.

The number -six Huskies shut out 11th-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato 4-0 Thursday afternoon at Scheels Arena.

Totino-Grace beat Alexandria Boys Basketball

Top-seeded Totino-Grace beat Alexandria 70-59 in the AAA State Boys Basketball Championship semifinal game, thanks to their strong shooting and rebounding.

Totino-Grace advanced to the championship game.

Border West Boys Basketball

In the second paragraph, the Nevis Tigers defeated the Border West Buccaneers 63-55 in the Class A State Boys Basketball Tournament’s Consolation Semifinal contest.

Nevis will play Sacred Heart for the Class A Consolation Championship at 8:00am on Saturday at Gangelhoff Center.

Sacred Heart beat Mankato Loyola 59-58 in their consolation semifinal game.

Underwood Girls Basketball

During the Class A Consolation Championship game on Saturday morning, the Underwood girls’ basketball team faced a challenging first half against Badger-Greenbush-Middle River.

However, the Rockets turned things around with an outstanding second-half performance, leading them to win the Consolation title.

At halftime, Underwood was behind by nine points with only two field goals to their credit.

Nonetheless, the Rockets dominated the final 18 minutes of the game, outscoring the Gators 37-13, and ultimately securing a 47-32 victory.

Mo Bugbee, a senior from Underwood Girls Basketball, was named the Olson Oil Company Athlete of the Week.

She had a fantastic performance during the Class A State Tournament, helping her team to win the Consolation Championship.

In three games, Bugbee scored 41 points, grabbed 26 rebounds, and provided 6 assists.

She started the tournament with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in the Rockets’ quarterfinal round loss.

In the consolation semifinals, she recorded a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds, leading Underwood to victory.

In the consolation semifinals she had a double-double and a 7-for-7 from the free throw line as Underwood beat Minneota 60-43.

Bugbee contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in the championship game.

The Fergus Falls boys’ Hockey

The Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team recently had their end-of-year banquet to celebrate their successful season, which ended in a runner-up finish in the Section 6A tournament.

The team gave out several awards, including the Anderson/Lake MVP award to Kellen Stenstrom, the Most Improved Varsity Player award to Gavin Goepferd, and the Most Inspirational Player award to Jax Katzenmeyer.

Senior goalie Ben Swanson won the Hobey Baker Character Award, and Colin Becker was voted Outstanding Senior.

Captains Plaques went to Swanson, Becker, and Leighton Buckmeier.

The team also recognized several players for their outstanding performances, including Wyatt Briese (Most Valuable Player) and Brock Scheuerman (Most Improved Player) from the JV team.

Minnesota State Boys Basketball

The Boys’ Basketball Tournament, sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League, is set to begin on Tuesday in the Twin Cities.

The tournament will run until Saturday when champions will be crowned in all four classes.

DGF Boys’ Basketball

In a thrilling upset, the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (DGF) Rebels defeated third-seeded Plainview-Elgin-Millville in the Class AA State quarterfinals.

DGF hit an impressive 64.3% of their 3-point shots and shot 49% from the field, resulting in a 63-61 victory at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.

Their next game will be against second-seeded Albany in the semifinals at Target Center on Friday at 8:00pm.
