After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Humane Society of Otter Tail County (HSOTC) successfully hosted its Annual Spring Fundraising Dinner on April 17th, attracting a crowd of between 250 and 300 attendees.

The event aimed to raise funds for the medical expenses of animals taken into the shelter throughout the year.

Held at the Fergus Falls VFW, the family-friendly event featured a delicious dinner, silent auction, and raffle, with attendees generously donating to support the welfare of local dogs and cats.

Though the total amount raised has not been fully tallied, the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation promise a significant boost to HSOTC’s efforts.

In 2022, the HSOTC took in 768 animals, completed 368 surgeries, and administered 1,225 vaccinations.

The Spring Fundraising Dinner served as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements made possible through the support of the community, with the average length of stay for a shelter animal being 31 days, resulting in 369 new families created and 177 families reunited.

As an independent, private non-profit 501(c3) organization, the HSOTC relies on local donations and serves all 62 townships and 19 municipalities of Otter Tail County.

The success of the fundraising event demonstrates the strong community support behind the organization and its mission to provide a safe haven for lost or abandoned animals.

During the event, guests were encouraged to bid generously on silent auction items and learn more about opportunities to help with the planned shelter expansion.

As the final donation figures come in, the HSOTC remains grateful for the community’s unwavering support in making second chances possible for every pet in need. For more information about the Humane Society of Otter Tail County, or to make a donation, visit humanesocietyotc.org.
