The Fergus Falls boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both hosted home meets on Tuesday, featuring intense competition among the seven participating teams.
The Otter boys emerged victorious, scoring 153.5 points and narrowly edging out Detroit Lakes, who finished with 151 points. Wahpeton, Horace, Ottertail Central, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, and Breckenridge rounded out the standings.
On the Otter girls’ side, Detroit Lakes claimed first place with 183 points, with the Otter girls securing second with 155.5 points. Horace, Wahpeton, Ottertail Central, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, and Breckenridge completed the rankings.

In baseball action, the Fergus Falls Otters suffered a crushing 12-1 defeat against state-ranked Willmar Cardinals. Otters’ Head Coach Shane Thielke acknowledged the Cardinals’ prowess, noting their top 10 preseason ranking in Class AAA. Pitcher Carston Fronning struggled, as Willmar capitalized with 11 hits and 5 walks.
Meanwhile, the Brandon-Evansville Chargers demonstrated resilience in their Little Eight Conference baseball doubleheader against Ashby. The Chargers won the first game 8-7 with a dramatic six-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning and then dominated the nightcap 9-1, despite only two hits.
The Fergus Falls Otter softball team opened their season with a tough 12-1 loss to the St. Cloud Crush. After a promising start, the Otters stumbled in the third inning, conceding seven runs due to costly errors.
In other action, Lane Dilly pitched a complete game shutout for the Ottertail Central Bulldogs, defeating Sebeka 3-0. With three strikeouts and only four hits allowed, Dilly impressed Ottertail Central Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson, who praised his pitcher’s ability to keep batters off balance.
