(Shakopee, MN) — Ex-Brooklyn Center officer Kim Potter is out of prison after serving 16 months for the April 2021 fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections says Potter was released from the Shakopee women’s prison at 4 a-m today (Monday) due to reported threats and the potential for violent protests outside the facility.
Potter received a two-year prison sentence for the first-degree manslaughter of Wright and will be on supervised release through December 21st of this year.
Wright’s family is upset that she was only sentenced to two years for killing their unarmed son during a traffic stop.
