North Dakota law enforcement getting ready for legal marijuana in Minnesota

(Bismarck, ND) — Law enforcement in neighboring North Dakota is preparing for what will likely be legal recreational marijuana across the border in Minnesota starting this summer.

North Dakota State Patrol Sergeant Wade Kadrmas says troopers will do their best to identify drivers who might have purchased and used pot or edibles in Minnesota.

Kadrmas says, “Obviously he has to witness some type of driving violation that would concern him. Once he stops the individual, then you still run ’em through the standard field sobriety test.”

Kadrmas says the North Dakota State Patrol will work to train more officers as drug recognition experts to help determine whether someone is under the influence of marijuana or another drug.
