Minneapolis Man Charged in Connection with Fergus Falls Burglary, Stolen Firearms Recovered

Fergus Falls, MN – Cole George Leroy Michelson, 26, of Minneapolis, has been formally charged following a burglary at JK Sports in Fergus Falls, the Fergus Falls Police Department reported.

Michelson faces charges of Felony 1st Degree Burglary with Dangerous Weapon(s) and multiple counts of Felony Theft Involving Firearms.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges.

The burglary took place in the early hours of May 15th, 2023, when the police responded to a burglary report at JK Sports.

Michelson was arrested later the same day at 1:00 pm.

The investigation revealed that a total of nine firearms had been stolen during the burglary, the estimated value of which is approximately $12,000.

In a significant development, all nine stolen firearms were recovered by law enforcement on May 16th, 2023, at approximately 5:00 pm.

The extent of damage sustained by the business during the burglary is still being assessed by the owners.

The Fergus Falls Police Department extended its appreciation to the ownership of JK Sports & Outdoors and The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for their cooperation throughout the investigation.

As the investigation is still ongoing, the police department has assured that further information will be relayed to the public upon completion.
