FERGUS FALLS, MN – This year’s Lake Region Run, the area’s premier running event since 2007, is slated for Saturday June 3rd, offering a range of distances from one mile to ten.
The annual race has become a favored fixture for running enthusiasts, attracting participants from casual walkers to serious competitors looking to test their mettle on the challenging terrain.
Racers will vie for the top honors along the scenic Fergus Falls area.
The top male and female overall finishers will receive trophies, while awards will also be given to the top three finishers in each age division.
Packet pick-up & walk up registration tonight (Friday, June 2nd) at Dr. Allen Magnuson Park from 5 – 7 PM and Saturday morning from 7 – 8:30 AM
Additionally, all participants will receive a finisher’s medal, a testament to their commitment and endurance.
Registrations made by May 19th guarantee runners a race t-shirt, while later registrants will be awarded a pair of Performance Fitsok Running Socks.
Special provisions have been made for youth runners aged 12 and under to receive a t-shirt, albeit with the possibility of post-race delivery if registration is made after May 19th.
Proceeds from the Lake Region Run will benefit Lake Region Healthcare’s Cancer Care and Research Center.
This ties the race’s physical challenge with a cause close to the community’s heart, enhancing the feeling of camaraderie among participants.
Historically, the event has shown strong participation, with the highest attendance of 1,309 participants recorded in 2013.
In 2020, the race format was adjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, replacing the half-marathon and relay with a 10-mile and 10-mile relay.
This change has been maintained since, offering a fresh challenge to returning runners.
Registrations are currently open, with fees ranging from $15 for the one-mile race to $60 for the 10-mile relay.
Throughout its history, the Lake Region Run has seen numerous outstanding performances, as reflected in the course records.
The fastest 10-mile was completed by Adam Pangrac, clocking in at 58:40 in 2021.
The record for the female category is held by Emily Tamalla, who finished in 1:08:57 in 2020.
Race day is expected to offer ideal running conditions, with average temperatures in Fergus Falls ranging between 55°F and 76°F in June.
With just an average rainfall of 3.75 inches for the month, runners can anticipate a comfortable race day climate.
The Lake Region Run promises a fun-filled day of community bonding, personal achievement, and charity, a celebration of health and wellness in the Fergus Falls area.
