The Minnesota Veterans Home – Fergus Falls will be commemorating its 25th anniversary in style by hosting the annual Stars and Stripes Parade. The festivities, which will also serve as an early celebration of Independence Day, will kick off on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
The parade will commence at 9:30 a.m., followed by a celebratory program that will start approximately at 10:45 a.m. and is expected to conclude by 11:30 a.m., at 1821 North Park St., Fergus Falls. Refreshments will be served after the program, offering attendees an opportunity to mingle and reflect on the day’s activities.
The Minnesota Veterans Home – Fergus Falls has been a beacon of support and comfort for veterans for a quarter of a century.
Its anniversary event promises to be a day of joy and remembrance, complete with a color guard, music by the Veterans Home Choir and Carlisle Band, historical displays, and sharing of memories.
Expected to grace the event are 180 current and many former leaders and employees of the Veterans Home, along with 75 veteran residents and eight veteran spouses.
32 volunteers, numerous family members and friends of residents, and community supporters and donors are also expected to join the event.
Prominent attendees include MDVA Deputy Commissioner – Veterans Healthcare Eric Meittunen, Fergus Falls Veterans Home Administrator Jonathan Stone, Scott Kvamme of Fergus Falls City Council Ward 2, Bud Nornes, Fergus Falls Veterans Home Advocate and Minnesota House of Representatives member from 1997 – 2021, and State Senator Jordan Rasmusson.
