Local Weekend Events: From Arts & Music to Farmers Markets & Ham Radio demonstrations.

Residents of Fergus Falls and the surrounding areas have a diverse weekend of events lined up.

Starting off on Friday, June 23, Kaddatz Galleries at 111 W Lincoln Avenue in Fergus Falls will host a two-day “Multi-Block Linocut” workshop for adults aged 16 and up, guided by Michael Weatherly.

On the same day, the United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties is launching their “Stuff the Bus” initiative, collecting school supplies for K-12 students in need, at their office in Fergus Falls.

School supplies can be purchased online to make shopping easier at: roonga.com/stuffthebus or drop off at collection bin sites (Gate City Bank, BOM (formerly Bank of the West), Park Region, YMCA, and the United Way office in Fergus Falls). For those in need, can find and fill out the Stuff the Bus Application by August 4th

The fun continues early on Saturday, June 24, with the infant and toddler exploration at the Otter Cove Children’s Museum located at 105 W Lincoln Ave, Fergus Falls, MN from 8-9 am. Older siblings are welcome to this event.

Later in the morning, the Fergus Falls Farmers Market at Spies Park will be happening from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, offering fresh produce and local products.

In Battle Lake, MN, a “Kite Fun Fly” event will be held at the Battle Lake Public School located at 402 Summit St W from 11 am to 2 pm.

At the same time, the International Friendship Festival will commence at Sherin Park and Campground in Pelican Rapids, promising a day full of cultural music, artisan exhibits, food trucks, and children’s games.

The Lake Region Amateur Radio Club’s Field Day activities will be held at Van Dyk Park on Sat, located at the Otter Tail County Historical Society in Fergus Falls at 1120 West Lincoln Ave. There will also be an antenna building demonstration at 3:00 and 6:00 pm on Saturday.

All are welcomed to stop by and check out the action, as local hams make contacts from all over the country, or even the world.

In addition, interested non-hams can actually get on the air with a licensed ham at their side controlling the station.

Music lovers in Battle Lake, MN can then enjoy live performances by Kate Lachowitzer at the ABC Brewing Co. located at 114 Memory Ln from 6-9 pm.

Simultaneously, Beach Bums Bar & Eatery at 35776 Co Hwy 72 in Battle Lake will present JimWhiteLive!

The AC4TA Youth Theatre Troupe will bring the Emmy Award-winning series School House Rock to life at the A Center for the Arts in Fergus Falls at 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm with Cast M and at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with Cast A.

Finally, rounding off the weekend, The Okee Dokee Brothers will perform Americana Folk-style, family-friendly music at Kirkbride Park, Fergus Falls, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
