Five outstanding local students were presented with the prestigious Mike Rohde Spirit Scholarships at a recent meeting of the Fergus Falls Sertoma Club at Mabel Murphy’s.
Each winner was honored with a plaque and a scholarship award of $1,500.00, bringing the total number of recipients of this esteemed award to 52 since its inception.
The deserving students receiving the scholarships this year are:
Micah Bermel, a diligent student from Fergus Falls Bermel Home School, Jayden Harig, a promising student from Underwood High School, Megan Hughes, an enthusiastic learner from Kennedy Secondary School, Fergus Falls, Molly Pearson, a dedicated scholar from Perham High School, and Emma Stans, a hardworking student also from Kennedy Secondary School, Fergus Falls.
The Mike Rohde Spirit Scholarships were created in memory of Mike Rohde, a beloved community member who tragically died of hereditary heart disease in 2000.
The scholarships are designed to assist students in Otter Tail County with future educational endeavors in their chosen fields.
These scholarships have been made possible through the generous donations of more than 150 individuals, the tireless efforts of the Fergus Falls Sertoma Club, the Mike Rohde Spirit Scholarship board, and the dedicated Rohde family.
The program stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting the academic dreams and aspirations of its young people.
