FARGO, N.D. (June 28, 2023) – The North Dakota State University Athletic Department, its
multimedia rights holder LEARFIELD, and Radio FM Media have announced Sam Neidermann
as “Voice of the Bison” beginning this upcoming season. He will also serve as Sports Director
for Radio FM Media and Director of Operations for BISON 1660/92.7.
Neidermann officially joins the Bison team on July 24th and will handle play-by-play
duties for football and men’s basketball. He also will host the one-hour coaches’ shows for radio
and television during sports’ seasons.

“As the Voice of the Bison, Sam will play an important role in bringing the excitement of
our football and basketball games to our fans across the country,” said NDSU Director of
Athletics Matt Larsen. “We look forward to Sam joining our team to help convey the NDSU
Athletics story and the rich tradition of success to our passionate Bison nation.”

Neidermann’s play-by-play experience includes Westwood One, ESPN, and Stony
Brook University. He has called nationally broadcast college football for the last two seasons,
drawing notable assignments such as Ohio State vs. Michigan (2021) and Alabama vs.
Tennessee (2022) as well as college basketball coverage, including the 2022 NCAA Women’s
Basketball Tournament. Neidermann was also a part of ESPN’s college football coverage during
the 2022 season, including the first two rounds of the Division I FCS Playoffs.

“We are thrilled to have Sam join the Radio FM Media team as the new voice of the
Bison and to serve in key roles directing our sports programming and our partnership with
NDSU athletics,” said Nancy Odney, COO of Radio FM Media. “Sam is a talented play-by-play
announcer and rising star in sports media, and we look forward to having him share his passion
and energy with our listeners.”

A native of Fishers, Indiana and a graduate of Indiana University, where he earned
a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Media, Neidermann has called play-by-play for multiple sports at
Stony Brook University in New York since 2021. He served as the voice of Stony Brook’s
women’s basketball telecasts on SNY and was also the voice of Stony Brook’s baseball
program. In June 2022, he produced and directed 1300 Miles to Omaha, a three-part
documentary about Stony Brook’s 2012 baseball team that made it to the College World Series.
“I am honored to join the winning tradition at North Dakota State and feel so blessed to
be a part of the NDSU family. Thank you to Tom Boman and Josh Hartman of Learfield, Matt
Larsen and NDSU athletics, and Nancy Odney of Radio FM Media for this special opportunity. I
cannot wait to get to Fargo and meet Bison Nation. Go Bison!”

Fans can hear Neidermann’s debut behind the mic on Saturday, Sept. 2, when Bison
football opens at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis against Eastern Washington at 2:30.
