(Bismarck, ND) — Officials at the North Dakota State University System are not fans of the new “North Star Promise” scholarship program in neighboring Minnesota.

It will offer free tuition to students of families making 80 thousand dollars or less starting in the 2024-2025 school year.

Chancellor Mark Hagerott says a task force is already at work to discuss the potential ramifications. North Dakota State President David Cook says the North Star Promise presents “catastrophic implications.”

Fifty-two percent of students who attend N-D-S-U are from Minnesota.
