Clay County Fair Kicks Off July 13-16 with Thrilling Midway Carnival and Action-Packed Events

 

The Mighty Thomas Carnival headlines a packed schedule of events at this year’s Clay County Fair, taking place from July 13 to 16 in Barnesville.

Thrill-seekers can enjoy six special bracelet sessions across the four days with advanced tickets available for $22 until July 11th at businesses in Barnesville, Dilworth, Hawley, Moorhead, and Sabin.

The action-packed program commences on Thursday, July 13th, with an array of animal shows, the Jigsaw Puzzle contest, a Touch-A-Truck event, Mullet Pageant, and a live performance by Matt Aakre.

On Friday, 4-H shows come to the forefront, featuring Swine, Dairy Goat, Dairy, Sheep, and Market Goat Show.

Glass Blowing demonstrations, a magic show by Tom Anderson, Clay County Government Day, and a performance by Zach Thomas round out the day’s activities, culminating in the adrenaline-pumping NTPA Championship Truck & Tractor Pull.

Saturday’s highlights include a diverse range of FFA/Open Class Shows, the 4-H Horse Show, the 4-H Pet Show, and a Tractor Parade.

Free ice cream from FFA and a performance by Princess Kay of the Milky Way will make the day even more enjoyable.

The day concludes with a Demolition Derby and a performance by Rockin Woody.

 

The final day of the fair, Sunday, July 16th, starts with a Cowboy Church and concludes with the Clay County Fair Awards Program and a Ranch Rodeo.

Other events of the day include the 4-H Horse Fun Show, an Ecumenical Worship Service, a Pedal Pull, a Fashion Revue Public Show, and the 4-H Round Robin in the Livestock Arena.

Grandstand Events promise action and entertainment with a NTPA Championship Truck and Tractor Pull, a Demolition Derby, and a Ranch Rodeo across the four-day program. Meanwhile, engaging activities for kids include a Bike Giveaway, a Coloring Contest, a Touch-A-Truck event, a Mullet Pageant, a magician show, a Traveling Escape Room, and a Pedal Power Pull.

The fair also hosts a series of exciting demonstrations and competitions like the Jigsaw Puzzle Competition, County Government Day, Make and Take Bouquet event, a Traveling Escape Room, and BINGO.

The Conservation Building will house intriguing displays and exhibits, including Big Game Animals, Open Class Crop Exhibits, FFA Exhibits, and the DNR Wall of Shame.

Live performances and events throughout the four-day fair include the Talent Show 2023, performances by Matt Aakre, Tom Anderson, Zach Thomas, Rockin Woody, and Sherwin & Pam Linton and “The Cotton Kings”.
