Downtown Fergus Falls is set to transform into a bustling hub of activity this Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, as the community comes together for the exhilarating “Shop, Move & Groove” event.
It promise a day filled with music, shopping, art, games, and more, with sidewalk sales running all day.
The “Shop, Move & Groove” event is a vibrant celebration of active living, local businesses, and community spirit.
It encourages participation from families and individuals alike, featuring an extensive lineup of activities such as live music, children’s games, an outdoor trade show, and a vendor market.
Lisa Workman President of the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce shared,
“We are movin’ and groovin’ in the Spies Riverfront Park space this year”,”many store will have sidewalk sales”, ” That 4 to 8 is where we saw the most action.”
Shopping enthusiasts can enjoy extended hours with many downtown stores remaining open until 8 pm.
Adding to the excitement, the event will introduce the “Otter Shop Hop,” a city-wide scavenger hunt.
Lisa Workman added, “There will be plenty of off street parking, and no time limit will be enforced, so you wont get a parking ticket.”
Participants will be encouraged to explore 20 local businesses hunting for Otters, with the chance to win over $1,500 in prizes and gift cards.
A slew of live broadcasting will be carried out at Spies Riverfront Park, starting with “Morning Talk Magazine” airing live from 9 to 10 am, followed by Channel 977 with McLovin’ on the airwaves from 2 to 6 pm.
The event also includes a historic walking tour led by Chris Schuelke, a line dancing performance by the Fergus Falls Senior Center Line Dancers, and the much-anticipated Lucky Duck Derby by the Noon Rotary at the Lincoln Avenue bridge.
Visitors can groove to live performances by Oliver’s Father and Blue Red Roses on the main stage and view a showcase of electric vehicles by Nelson Auto, Ottertail/Minn-Dakota Coaches, and Otter Tail Power.
Children can enjoy a variety of activities, such as giant Jenga, an inflatable obstacle course, dunk tank, and mini-golf.
The Kaddatz Galleries will host a print-making workshop, and the Fergus Home & Hardware, along with the Fergus Falls Fish & Game Club, are organizing a birdhouse building session.
An array of food and drink options will be available, including local favorites from American Legion, Don Pablo’s, Mother Goose & Beans, Peney Cakes, and Stony Brook Donut Company, accompanied by beer from Fergus Brewing and Outstate Brewing.
While most activities at “Shop, Move & Groove” are free, the fun and memories to be made are invaluable.
The gathering will primarily take place at Spies Riverfront Park, with sidewalk sales spread throughout the downtown area.
