Tragic Collision: FedEx Van Turns into Path of Motorcyclist, Resulting in Fatality

On 07/22/2023, just before 4 in the afternoon the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a FedEx delivery van on Co Hwy 22, at the intersection with Jewett Lake Road.
When first responders arrived at the scene, it was learned that the motorcycle rider, Michael Wayne Korby age 39 had sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
The driver of the van, Jacob Tyler Walls age 26 was not injured.
Based on witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, it was learned that the motorcycle had been traveling southbound on Co Hwy 22, and the FedEx van had been northbound on Co Hwy 22.
The van made a left (west) turn onto Jewett Lake Road into the path of the oncoming motorcycle and caused the crash.
The MN State Patrol, Elizabeth Fire Department, Ringdahl Ambulance Service, and Beyers Towing assisted at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
