(St. Paul, MN) — Starting today (Tues), people moving to Minnesota with a valid driver’s license from another state are no longer required to pass the written test to obtain a license here.

Senator Foung Hawj of St. Paul says 20 other states only require the driver pass a vision check and and our state should be as successful and as simple as the others.

Senator Hawj says the D-M-V (Department of Motor Vehicles) is facing overwhelming demand to administer written tests and the new law will ease some of that burden.

He says it will also help qualified drivers with language barriers from delaying on getting a Minnesota license.
