News Talk 1250 KBRF, KJ Country 96.5, Real Rock Z103, Hit Music Channel 977, Wave 104.1, Real Country 102.3, KDLM and the Lakes 99.5 are continuing to celebrate towns in the Lakes Area with the Hometown Challenge powered by Arvig.
The first round of voting ended on Sunday (August 20th) and the results are in. Sixteen towns remain in the official bracket after thousands of votes were made. They are Detroit Lakes (defeated Alexandria by 36 votes), Barnesville (defeated Deer Creek by 32 votes), Ottertail (defeated Elizabeth by 65 votes), New York Mills (defeated Lake Park by 21 votes), Perham (defeated Richville by 103 votes), Vergas (defeated Rothsay by 74 votes), Ashby (defeated Wheaton by 92 votes), Wadena (defeated Elbow Lake by 3 votes) Battle Lake (defeated Wauban by 134 votes), Pelican Rapids (defeated Sebeka by 107 votes), Underwood (defeated Frazee by 1 vote), Park Rapids (defeated Mahnomen by 105 votes), Henning (defeated Menahga by 35 votes), Erhard (defeated Hawley by 11 votes), Dent (defeated Audubon by 59 votes), and Fergus Falls (defeated White Earth by 145 votes).
The matchups for round two, which people can vote on through this Sunday (August 27th), are Detroit Lakes vs. Barnesville, Ottertail vs. New York Mills, Perham vs. Vergas, Ashby vs. Wadena, Battle Lake vs. Pelican Rapids, Underwood vs. Park Rapids, Henning vs. Erhard, and Dent vs. Fergus Falls.
Towns will continue to go head to head and get voted on from now through September 17th to determine the eventual winner.
