(Undated) – The 2023 bear season opens Friday in Minnesota and runs through mid-October. D-N-R project leader Andy Tri says bear hunting is more popular than it has been in more than two decades.
Tri says, “This year we had a…the highest number of applicants for bear licenses that we’ve had since I think 2001, was the last, the next highest. We had 26 thousand people apply for about four thousand permits.”
Tri says a large area of central and northwestern Minnesota is considered “no quota” where hunters can buy a permit over the counter.
A bear license is 45 dollars for Minnesotans and 231 dollars for non-residents.
