(St. Paul, MN) — A Minnesota agency has voted to limit an environmental assessment of a proposed carbon capture pipeline.

The state’s Public Utilities Commission voted unanimously to limit the evaluation of the pipeline to Otter Tail and Wilkin counties.

Summit Carbon Solutions is proposing a pipeline that would carry carbon emissions from an ethanol plant in Fergus Falls to the North Dakota state line.

The pipeline would cover 240 miles in Minnesota, but the commission will limit the environmental study to a segment covering about 20 miles.

The environmental study will also look into two alternate routes suggested by the advocacy group CURE.
