This past Saturday, September 16th 2023 was the Boots on the Ground Run
The event’s commencement was heralded by the resonant reverberation of motorcycle engines, as kickstands were hoisted precisely at noon.
The symbolic launch and culmination of this spirited journey unfolded at the Fergus Falls VFW Post 612.

The day’s agenda encompassed a diverse spectrum of activities designed to engage and gratify participants and patrons alike.
Of particular note was a silent auction, which featured an array of enticing items.
It provided attendees with an opportunity to express their generosity, with all proceeds directed towards the Boots on the Ground cause.
Towards the evening was a street dance in the VFW Post 612 parking lot, uniting attendees in the spirit of celebration.

Proceeds from the day of the run are being given to the Recreation Department at the home to help provide supper outings for the veteran’s to places such as the Legion, VFW, Elk’s Point, and for breakfast outings at The Big Chief Truck Stop and Family Diner.
Proceeds also fund recreational outings to the Red Hawks Game, the Fargo Air Show, fishing outings, Friday nights at the I94 Race Track, bingo at the home, music and other activities within the home.

About Boots on the Ground:
The Boots on the Ground Veterans Motorcycle Fun Run was formally started in 2014 as the Friends of the Veteran’s Home Vet’s Motorcycle Fun Run which took over Todd “Speedy” Peterson’s POW/MIA Run out of Underwood, MN. In 2015 we decided to change the name to Boots on the Ground Veterans Motorcycle Fun Run to honor Veteran’s at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Fergus Falls.
