Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) was recently notified by imaging vendor, DMS Health Technologies (DMS), of a recent data security incident at their organization that may impact the confidentiality and security of certain LRH patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI). LRH utilizes DMS for mobile mammography services in Elbow Lake and Morris, MRI and CT services in Morris, and previously utilized DMS services for mobile PET/CT in Fergus Falls prior to November of 2022.
A total of 1,390 LRH patients will receive a notification letter from DMS about the incident. The type of information potentially affected may vary by individual, but DMS indicates it is typically limited to name, date of birth, date of service, physician name, and exam type.
Potentially affected individuals are encouraged to review account statements, explanation of benefits, and monitor free credit reports for suspicious activity. The letter from DMS will also explain how patients can obtain a free credit report along with other resources to protect themselves from fraud.
