Minnesotans experiencing financial difficulties when it comes to paying for heat can be protected by the state’s Cold Weather Rule starting today (MON). CenterPoint Energy spokesperson Alejandra Diaz says the most important thing right now is for people to call and apply.
Diaz explains, “Under the Cold Weather Rule, customers are required to set up a payment plan with their utilities, in this case it would be CenterPoint Energy, to prevent disconnection of their service.”
Diaz says any financial situations or special circumstances are taken into consideration when agreeing to a plan. The service plan runs from October 1st, 2023 to April 30th, 2024.
