The Minnesota Sea Grant is getting into the holiday spirit by diving deep into the spooky lore behind Minnesota’s lakes and waters around the world!
Director Dr. John Downing, who works on various aspects of the state’s lake systems, plans to honor his work and Halloween by presenting a webinar that blends the two together.
“It’s part entertainment but there’s a fair bit of science behind it to let people understand where these phenomena come from and what their scientific basis is.”
Downing notes it’s impossible to talk about scary lakes without mentioning monsters, as at least 350 different lake monsters have been reported in the U.S. with at least 3 in Minnesota.
