The Perham Post Office will hold a dedication ceremony on Friday, November 17th, at 1:00 pm to officially rename the facility as the “Charles P. Nord Post Office” in honor of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord, born on June 6, 1989, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, grew up on his family’s farm.

After graduating from high school, he joined the National Guard, serving as a tank crew member and later achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In September 2015, Charles was accepted into the Warrant Officer training program, leading him to Fort Rucker, Alabama, for helicopter flying school.

His dedication and skills resulted in his promotion to Chief Warrant Officer 2. Charles returned to Minnesota in May 2019, where he built a new home near Perham.

Tragically, in 2019, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord lost his life alongside fellow Guardsmen Chief Warrant Officer 2 James A. Rogers Jr. and Warrant Officer Candidate Kort Plantenberg when their helicopter experienced a mid-flight mechanical failure near St. Cloud, MN.

The renaming ceremony includes speakers such as USPS Minnesota:

North Dakota District Manager Angela Bye, Senator Amy Klobuchar (represented by Ben Lien), and Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach.

The event marks the implementation of H.R. 6220, designating the Perham Post Office, located at 100 3rd Avenue Northwest, Perham, Minnesota, as the “Charles P. Nord Post Office.”

Family members of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord were also present at the ceremony, emphasizing the local hero’s sacrifice and service to the nation.

The dedication serves as a lasting tribute to his memory and contributions to the community and the country.
