(Wabasha, MN) — There will be a late-season chronic wasting disease (C-W-D) management hunt in a permit area near Wabasha where a deer recently tested positive for the first time.
The D-N-R’s Erik Hildebrand says hunters can harvest a deer in permit area 342 the weekend of December 15th to the 17th. Hildebrand says the hunt will generate additional samples which will help assess the potential spread of C-W-D and reduce the number of deer in the zone.
There are late-season C-W-D management hunts in seven permit areas that weekend.
