“Where to Eat” Episode 9 – Zen’s Steak & Seafood

Hello and Welcome to the 9th installment of “Where to Eat”, Brought to you by Vergas 66 Gas & Convenience in Vergas, MN.

The captivating culinary journey that continues to expand your where to eat horizons.

 

In this episode brings you to downtown Fergus Falls, MN to Zen’s Steak & Seafood.

Picture this: hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, pasta to die for, salads, rack of lamb, chicken, and prime rib that’ll have you coming back for more.

Now, let’s talk about the main events – The surf and turf.

It’s a symphony of flavors, where the savory cuts of hand-cut steak meet the delicate notes of seafood, whether your having walleye or lobster.

But there’s more… Brace yourselves for the Boundary Waters sauce. Trust us, it’s not your average sauce.

It’s a game-changer, an extra layer of magic that takes flavor-town to the next level when enjoying seafood.

 

Your hosts Zakk Daniels and Dave Bishop invite you to join them as they make their way through the Zen’s experience.

 

After talking with the owners Tom & Danielle, Zakk and Dave both chose two types of surf and turf that showcase the professional and delicious choices that Zen’soffer.

 

Zakk went with the Rib-eye and walleye surf and turf, a Cesar salad which also came with a popover. And for desert, a beautiful Crème Brûlée with strawberry slices.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile, co-host Dave Bishop selected the Lobster and Tenderloin filet, homemade cheesy broccoli soup, which also came with a popover. For desert, a rich and tasty slice cheesecake.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Both Zakk and Dave also tried a few popular appetizers, and some additional sauteed mushrooms and onions, and charred brussel sprouts

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A multitude of flavors and choices to choose from, we had to try a few different things.

A highlight to the meals was the amazing sauce that owner Tom has created is called, Boundary Waters Sauce that he creates and serves with assorted seafood dishes. It has a unique tang and flavor , that has you guessing whats in it and wishing it was bottled and sold in stores.

Its not tarter sauce, and its not a cocktail sauce either, a secret of Tom’s own invention.

Tom and Daniella, the masterminds behind this culinary haven that is called Zen’s.

With over 15 years in the catering biz, they’ve brought their A-game to the restaurant scene since 2020, when they decided to open even amidst the pandemic.
