The North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) Alumni/Foundation has announced a substantial donation of $500,000 from Linda Kosel Patterson, underscoring her unwavering commitment to advancing agricultural education in the region.
This transformative contribution is poised to revolutionize the NDSCS agriculture program through the establishment of a state-of-the-art ag technology experience for both current and future students.
The donation is earmarked for the creation of the Kosel Family Agriculture Lab, which will provide advanced tools, equipment, and technologies crucial for innovative and comprehensive agricultural education.
This noteworthy donation follows a substantial contribution from the Yaggie family in December, facilitating major enhancements to the NDSCS agricultural center, now proudly named the “Yaggie Family Agriculture Center.”
The newly established “Kosel Family Agriculture Lab” is positioned to become a fundamental pillar of the remodeled and updated facility.
Linda Kosel’s longstanding support for NDSCS spans several years, with her and her mother, Mary Kosel, previously facilitating the use of nearly 95 acres of farmland in May 2017.
This earlier gift resulted in the creation of the Kosel Family Agriculture Land Lab, which has been integral to all NDSCS Agriculture Programs.
The land lab played a pivotal role in doubling the NDSCS Ag Program’s student enrollment and introducing new associate degrees in Precision Agronomy and Precision Agriculture Technology.
These contributions provide students with the opportunity to translate classroom and lab learning into practical skills, utilizing the latest equipment and tools.
The Kosel family’s legacy in agriculture and education began with Richard and Mary Kosel in 1947.
Their commitment, along with their daughter Linda, has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of agricultural education at NDSCS.
The NDSCS community expresses profound gratitude for the continued support and partnership of the Kosel family, significantly enhancing the educational experience and opportunities for students in agriculture.
Established in 1988 as an official 501(c)3 organization, the NDSCS Alumni/Foundation is dedicated to supporting activities that develop and strengthen the North Dakota State College of Science.
In the fall semester of 2023, the foundation awarded over $1 million in student scholarships and departmental improvement awards.
