Both the Cleveland and Channing ice rinks in Fergus Falls are open and ready to skate on.
The Fergus Falls Public Works crew has been building ice on the rinks thanks to this week’s colder temperatures.
Communications Manager for the City of Fergus Falls, Jean Bowman says, “The nets are up, and the lights turn on automatically from 4-9 p.m. The crew will add to the ice next week, but with the weekend ahead, they knew people would be excited to finally lace up their skates and get outdoors.”
However, with the temperatures forecast for this weekend being extremely low the warming houses will remain locked and closed.
Bowman adds, “When the temperature or wind chill are -10 degrees or colder, we want to encourage people to stay home, safe and warm.”
