Code Red at Fergus Falls Schools

By Dave Bishop Jan 15, 2024 | 1:01 PM

Due to an unspecified threat, the Fergus Falls Public Schools went in to a Code Red lockdown Monday.  While the details are limited, Fergus Falls Chief of Public Safety Kile Bergren said that it was due to a, similar to the one that the Public Library received last week. “I just want to make sure that everybody knows, that everybody is safe, and everything is fine. Just like last week when we had a series of threats to like our local library and other government facilities across, the state we’re seeing similar type calls today” Bergren continued, “So just out of an abundance of caution the district is in a code red. We have officers at all of the schools, just want to reiterate that everybody is fine and there are no issues.”

Bergren said that the School district will be sending out a letter to parents shortly.

Update: Superintendent Jeff Drake Released the following Statement to parents.

Otter Families,

At approximately 12:00 p.m.,  KSS, Adams School and Cleveland School each received a phone call threatening the safety and well-being of our schools.  Specifically, the unidentified caller threatened to shoot through the school’s windows.  The district immediately went into a Code Red lockdown and 911 was called.   The Fergus Falls Police Department dispatched officers to each of the district’s school buildings.

All students and staff are safe.  Law enforcement are still present in each of our buildings.  Out of an abundance of caution, school will be closing early.  Buses are expected to arrive at approximately 1:30 p.m.
