House Fire in Alexandria Leaves Five People Injured and One Dead

On Valentine’s Day morning at around 6:35 a.m., a fire was reported at a residence on Jefferson Street in Alexandria, MN.

The Alexandria Fire Department, Garfield Fire Department, Alexandria Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, and North Memorial Ambulance all responded to the scene.

First responders discovered that six people occupied the home.

One adult male was found deceased, and the other five were transported to Alomere Hospital.

Three of the five were air lifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center, while the other two were treated and released by Alomere.

One Alexandria Police Officer and one Douglas County Deputy Sheriff sustained injuries due to rescue efforts and were also treated.

The Alexandria Fire Department released a statement saying, “Today, our team responded to a devastating house fire on Jefferson Street. We regret to inform you that one individual has tragically lost their life. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking incident.”

The State Fire Marshal was on scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No other injuries were reported and the condition of the individuals being treated is currently unknown.
