Alexandria, MN (Voice of Alexandria) – The Alexandria Police Department says an arrest has been made in the November 24, 2023 homicide investigation of 58-year-old Desiree Frederick of Alexandria.

On Monday, Angel Rua-Torres, 78, of Alexandria was taken into custody at his residence, the same residence where the crime was committed.

The Alexandria Police Department, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), along with assistance from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) have continued investigating since the incident occurred.

A criminal complaint was filed by the Douglas County Attorney’s Office charging Angel with murder.

Back on November 24, Alexandria Police Department and North Memorial Ambulance were called to the 1600 block of 6th Avenue East in Alexandria.

Upon arrival an adult victim was found unresponsive inside a residence and life saving measures were performed; however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Frederick had reportedly been stabbed to death.

The Alexandria Police Department is thanking the family of Desiree and said that “we are extremely sorry for your loss and cannot thank you enough for your constant communication with our office. You have been beyond patient during the investigation.”

Officials are also thanking the public and everyone who called their office with information involving this case.
